The old chestnut "The Rainmaker” from 1954 currently in production at the Globe is among the first productions helmed under new Artistic Director, Barry Edelstein. The outing may be a guileful testing of San Diego waters.
San Diego’s flagship theatre’s pacifying trademark of opulence in design is absent. The production assures a lean style that allows the audience to zero in on text and actors. Note the minimal set design by Neil Patel below.
Still, the largely over 50 y.o. subscriber-based Globe audience may find the play a guilty pleasure.
